I don't know, but I think you're right. That and-one-two-three count sounds like a swing count, which is something I commonly associate with ET2 timing. But I have a feeling that song was made for On1 dancers.

I‘ve heard some songs counted in Spanish with strong US English accent. That‘s even worse.

There was a salsa counting song that says all the instruments in the beginning, i think for example "Guiro!" and then it goes like uno dos tres, cinco seis siete. Can't find it on youtube though. You guys know which one i'm talking about?

I think it's cool because they don't count throughout the whole song and let you find the rhythm on your own as well.

Think I've re-adjusted now, both by following the clave and reacting to the conga in a different way, almost like a cue to indicate when to start the lifting my foot to step on the 1 and 5 in time.
