No dancing for three weeks - feel like a virgin

I haven't danced for five weeks now. Just classes. The salsaweekend at Stockholm was a disapointment - I was sick :(. I danced a few dances but I mostly watched. The weekend itself was a sucess (I guess you've seen my video at videosection).

Last weekend Tropical Gem where supposed to come but the weekend was cancelled since the manager thought there would be to little people coming. Great disappointment but understandable.

And I guess since noone wanted to compete with Tropical gem - all other parties where cancelled. And then they didn't come...no dancing at all :( :(

Tomorrow I will go to Café Loca and dance all afternoon. Then I will go to Falken and dance in the evenening. In between I guess i have to go home and fetch my daughter who want to join me in the evening. Just 120 km but it is worth it....

Tomorrow Nina and Fabian will introduce their new choreography for the competition at Orlando. Nina is one of the best dancers in the world. I wich them all luck in the world. Perhaps I bring my video and record the show. Get back in that case....

The good thing.....
about this long period of no dancing is that my knee is better than ever. I have also had the time to get in in good shape since I started up biking to work again (in -3 degrees Celcius sometimes...works great if you dress for downhill skiing instead of biking). I've also spend some time at the balance board - great for spinning technique

The bad thing....
you could probably guess.

About tomorrow...
a substitue for Tropical Gem - I guess not. But the best thing I could do. I'm looking forward to it but feel a bit shaky.

The Tropical Gem cancellation must have been a real disappointment... :( I feel for you.

Looking on the bright side, you got your knee rested and you have been doing classes so you shouldn't be completely rusty. A break doesn't always set you back you know - I remember coming back from a 2 week break and finding myself actually better than before the break.

Have fun tomorrow :D

I did not dance since 4 weeks now... due to lack of guys... :(

Yesterday I wanted to go out with some friends, but as the parking had been so empty already we just went inside without paying the fee and we found about 30 people only... however the music was good, but if there are no dancers, what to do??? So we went home!
Tomorrow we will give it another try!!! :D

Yea - "rebuilding" my knee is probably the best outcome of this period. And all time I spend biking an in the gym.

You are right - I had improved. For the first time I ever I danced with a few of the really good guys - and they seemed to enjoy it. :). Even the new teacher in town. Have only had two dances with him ever. (he is so great.....you must watch him).

I even dared to ask my daughter to record me and one of my favs. As always the "true meeting" isn't recorded. Just our moves. But I had improved since last recording (a year ago).

My worst bad habit was gone (leaning forward too much). But I still bend my knees to much sometimes. Makes the steps looks silly. The guy I danced with is shorter than me and I guess thats why I bend my knees so much in spins. Afterwards we discussed it and he believes this makes our dancing easier for him. He can use his arm effectively. Girls in my height who do not bend their knees give him problem. But I guess I have to learn how to strech the knees after the spin. And I would love to see how I dance with a tall guy.

Luc,

sorry to read about the Tropical Gem cancellation - bummer. But good to hear you improved despite (or because of??) your break - isn't that a great feeling when you think you have forgotten stuff and you find yourself improved totally unexpected :)

Wow, in my scene a lot of places would be happy if they attracted as many as 30 people - I've been to quite a few salsa parties with 20 or less people (once I was the only person next to the DJ and Organizer).

I'm doing great! How are you? :)
That Saturday was great - warming up at the coffée-shop-salsa-dancing together with my husband, sleeping in the car back home, having dinner and then going back with my daughter to Gothenburg for more salsa. It was great!

But since that there hasn't been much dancing. Last week at Caliente was a great Party but too crowded. I hope the dance at 27:th and 28:th will be better. With two such parties in sequence I guess there will be less people.

BUT...a very big BUT...yesterday at a small salsaparty my daughter where asked by one of the BIG teachers to join the new performance group for the congress in april. I'm very very proud!
