New York advice...

Will be in NYC from the 2nd - 4th Nov (Friday night to Sunday Evening), looking for suggestions on where to go and a place to crash if someone has a Sofa available :)

My hosting offer still stands, especially since I got to keep my couch in my new place.

Unfortunately you are coming the "wrong" weekend in terms of weekly events--Abakua/LVG weekends are much better than Mambo Fateegz / Jimmy's weekends in terms of dancers and music quality. And you will miss Cache on Thursday.

But you should still have a lot of good dancing nevertheless. :)

Piel Canela I hear is good.
Karisma Salsa social is hear is good
cant really say 'cause I havent been.

If you can change your flight to Monday, (suggestion) Jimmy's is really addictive. ;)

I've heard Piel Canela is not good and cliquey. Karisma used to be good until Toda La Noche started last year at the same time (first Saturday of the month), that is now where most dancers go, so Toan and I will be there that night if anyone else is planning to go. The music is great and there is generally a good turnout every month, though some months there are fewer people for some reason. But I can keep Toan occupied if there aren't enough ladies that night. :) If he can handle me, that is. ;)

My favs on the recent trip were Jimmy Anton's, Salsa Mania, Mambo Fateegz, and Sessions. Veranda was good the first week and so-so the second. LVG had technical problems: extremely dirty floor, and the sound seemed bad part of the time. Sola's was fun and really friendly, though more of a beginner crowd (which was fine for a non-native-on2 guy).

On previous trips, I really liked Abakua, and Marlon's Social was also good.
