New timba

Love the voice (and it doesn't match the appearance of the singer to me, that's always funny)

Video is new, but the spotify release seems to be from a few years back?

I'm also confused between Deyvi y su Portada and Deyvis y su Sangre Nueva.

Deyvis and his band are great! Thanks for the recc

@Gaviota re the Baila y confia song you posted before...It feels like a 6-8 pattern (4 groups of 3) like that used in Afro.

'Normal' Salsa is in 4 groups of 4 (called a 4/4 time signature, so 4 beats -which I've called X below- that each break down into 4 micro beats- which I've called O below )

1. 2. 3. 4. Beats

XOOO XOOO XOOO XOOO 'Micro' beats (TM I've just invented this term ;-))

In Latin 'Afro' (usually west or central African descended music) it can change to 4 groups of 3. As it's lopsided it feels super different.

1. 2. 3. 4. Beats

XOO XOO XOO XOO Micro beats

If you try clapping the main beats 1, 2, 3, 4/Xs) then clicking your tongue or saying da da da da on the Os for each style, you'll feel more space in afro. It's still 4 beats but as there fewer Microbeats there is more space.

In Baila y confia you can hear the 6 notes like lows and highs. I'll write _ for a low sound and ° for high (not exact! Just to help you hear it)

1. 2. 3. 4. Beats

XOO XOO XOO XOO Micro beats

_ ° _ ° ° ° _ ° _ ° ° °

Humpa mentioned it comes from a bata toque. If anyone has the toque name or a link I'd love to dive deeper, thanks.

Having some formatting probs with this interface, and as I can't post an image as I'm a newish member I'll put a fwd slash between each beat:

1/ 2/3/4 Beats
XOO/ XOO/XOO/XOO Micro beats
_ ° _ /° ° °/_ ° _ /° ° ° Baila y confia 2m40
