New timba

Love the voice (and it doesn't match the appearance of the singer to me, that's always funny)

Video is new, but the spotify release seems to be from a few years back?


I'm also confused between Deyvi y su Portada and Deyvis y su Sangre Nueva.

"La orquesta Deyvi & Su Sangre Nueva' se fundó el 4 de junio del 2015 con diez integrantes: tres cantantes, un piano, un bajo, drums con timbal, conga, dos saxos y una trompeta. Empezamos explorando por los diferentes géneros de música hasta que decidimos enfocarnos en el Songo, género creado por los maestros de la música cubana, como el gran Juan Formell, José Luis Quintana (Changuito) y el maestro del piano Cesar "Pupy" Pedroso.Actualmente la orquesta tiene 13 integrantes y, aunque tocamos una multitud de géneros, la base de nuestro trabajo sigue siendo el Songo con todas sus variaciones."

Oh I didn't even realise this one was that recent, I've heard it so often. Cuban DJs are so much more up to date with new releases compared to salsa it's not even funny. I've probably heard that cover of Baile inolvidable by Combinación de La Habana more often than the original, despite going to more salsa than timba parties.

So many salsa dj's are stuck in the past, haha
 
I'm going to Havana on Thursday. Some of mybteachers haven't had work in a while. I will be taking lessons from them but it is an excuse to give them bugspray (chikanyunga is real bad there ther right now), mr noodles and powdered milk. And ibuprofen.
But yeah... my original post was meant to say that I am now square in the "Timba is better than salsa" camp. I find that it just compels.me.to express myself more.

I'd be very interested to know how the situation currently stands over there, especially after the recent hurricane and the evacuations etc. Pls let us know. Thanks. And have a great trip.

Havana was untouched. But a lot of the teachers are from Santiago abs other western cities. Their family was affected. And the tourist has affected everyone.
