New guy/teacher in town - Phelipe

There is a new guy in our town. Phelipe - a Frenchmen imported via Norway. Amazing how much difference one dancer can do. Oh....sorry....I forgot to tell you why.

First of all he is the best guy living in our town ever. A dancer of international class.

Secondly
He is aimable - a very nice man taking his time dancing with everyone. A lot of the other good guys (or wannabes) only dance with the really good girls. (This cliquish behavior has really been annoying for a while. Guys who used to dance with me before seems to have become too good for me. Feels a bit like they used me for stepping up.)

Third.
He gives the girls exactely what they want. He starts very carefully...feeling where the girl is...plays a lot...make them laugh. Then he raise the ribbon a bit. Very nice!

Forth
He is a styleicon for the guys. They have something to watch - an ideal. A lot of guys is starting the on-2 class just because they want him as a teacher. (And they do not really careabout on-2)

This is really refreshing. Amazing how much just one guy might to a whole community. Everyone is talking about him. Everyone likes him.

Great to hear!

I don't really get people who'll only dance with "good" dancers. I've been dancing for 2 years but will not hesitate to dance with beginners as I've found that it's actually good to mix up dancing with experienced and inexperienced dancers. It's good to practise leading, and I enjoy seeing the beginners benefit from dancing with me, especially over time when they improve because I've taken the time to help them out and provide them with guidance.

Dancing salsa is about having fun, not being better than the next person. I'm glad this new guy has that same perception, and in turn has made him a great dancer in more ways than one :)
