Nail surgery

I've just been told by a podiatrist that the only solution for my ingrowing toenail is 'partial nail avulsion' - that means removing part of the edge of the toenail. She say it will take 8-10 weeks to heal. Has anybody else had this procedure? Does it really take that long? The prospect of two months off the dancefloor is horrifying.

a friend of mine that runs a lot, has had 6 of these!!! for him, it took two weeks to heal, and 4 more weeks to feel normal.

Tom - I have had this procedure done. You will be able to dance again quite quickly. I can assure you that you will not need to be out of action for 2 months.
Be extra wary of followers taking back steps that are too big - you definitely don't want them landing on the section of toe where the nail nas been removed!

I agree, you will be on the floor in no time... might not be dancing every song but you will be able to handle it. My suggestion is try and dance in the corner or buy a wall because you are going to want all the protection and control you can get.

I had the whole toe nail removed twice (once by doc and other time it came off it's own). While it takes time to grow back, I continued my normal activities uninterrupted. As long as someone is not going to step on it, you should be fine.
