Music Identification on Cell Phones

Just saw an ad by one of the local cell phone companies pitching a new feature where you capture part of a song, and it'll ID the name and artist. Certainly looked pretty neat on the ad - but couldn't find any more info on it online.

Talk about useful if it works well!
 
Have a look at shazam.com. They have just launched a Symbian OS client - but you can use it just by calling their number and them texting you the info.

I've used it once it identify a salsa track, and it came back with the right answer. Apparently it was a mid 90's track and I could only find it on two compilations, so I think that was pretty good!

There's one track in particular that I've been searching for, that the local DJ doesn't even know the name of.... this could be an easy solution!

Just confirmed - my cellphone uses the shazam technology too. Will report later as to how well it works on salsa tracks.
