I liked this move. Never seen it before. I rewinded the youtube first time I noticed it. After two rewinds I think I figured how he led it. It helps that Magna can throw in 4 quick turns :)

Gotta try it out on the floor now!

it's one i've been leading for a while. i find it easier to check the girl to her right with her left hand on beat 1 (on2) then lead her forward to her right on beat 2. the 'non-natural' xbody turn footwork works better imo (rather thn checking her on beat 2 and turning on 3)

yes, i too have done this on the dancefloor. don't feel bad if some girls don't follow the move out correctly. some girls instead of breaking in a sorta copa position, they'll keep turning to their right, and end up in a hammerlock position. some girls notice the mistake and will follow through next time, some will just keep doing the same  but try it out!!

I can see why the girls can end up in the hammer lock. I lead them into hammer lock often from that wrap position. One trick is to either pull them forward on the left foot after they unwind and lead the free spins (Oliver does it slightly differently. I like his way of leading in to free spin. Follower gets to throw in an extra spin).

If you check to her right, then the unwinding will be to her left, correct? In that case it could be simple cross-body on beat 2 (on2) for her and turn starting on beat 3. A variation. I can see this one too.

yes, unwinding to the left. i usually lead so the girl turns on 2 and 3 - then they have the option of adding an extra turn

this is a whip and it is a very common move/pattern. Advance beginner level I would say.

It can be lead in different ways (different prep, hand toss, etc) and angles. Just type 'salsa' and 'whip' on youtube to find variations.

For on2, If you want your follow to do more spins, just lead it on count 2 and give her enough momentum.
The follow should give resistance when you prep her.

Best to ask your instructor and practice it. Follows are at different levels of spinning and if you give a random follow as much force as Oliver gave Magna, she can end up on the floor or wall. Judge your partner's spinning ability early on. good luck

Actually I found the one from 0:40-0:44 more interesting, although it may be just an optical since the couple in the foreground moves in the opposite direction and partially covers them.

Waahh?!

I'm a total youtube junkie for moves.

If I think I can figure out the proper tecnique, I will try it but I prefer good instruction. I can show something I like to an instructor to get the proper technique. YouTube is a good source but it can also lead to poor execution when trying to replicate moves without understanding the technique.

Apache Check move .... i first tried and girls would end up facing right towards me as opposed to getting back into their slot. I sort of figured it out ...you really do have to let go as soon as you do the lead otherwise when you hold on too long they will naturally continue.

Really sweet move and when done correctly looks mighty impressive.

which program do you use for slowdown youtube videos?

You can get "Youtube Downloader" to download the video onto your PC and then use "VLC" to play them at any speed. Both programs are free.

Assuming you have downloaded the youtube video onto your local hard disk, I find VLC Media player be good at most basic tasks including changing the speed at which video plays (slower or faster). VLC media player is open source and free.

I am not familiar with browser plug-ins which will let you change the online video speeds.

sometimes I dont want to download the video to HD...if you download "enounce" you'll see it slowdown the video online and the music get slowed too without much distortion..the program was really helpful but I cant have it anymore..you can find it here:

www.enounce.com

just wanted another free program to do that :)
