Mambo City 5* congress first timer... tips?

Hello

So, I am a first time congress goer AND a first time forum poster, despite being on the salsa scene for a while now. Was just wondering if there are any other people going to a congress for the first time, particularly Mambo City 5 star this weekend? And for any of the seasoned congress goers do you have any tips and, should I be scared that I am going alone, people seem to be going in big groups and it’s only just dawned on me that I might be in the minority?

Thanks!

Victoria

I've never been to any congress as part of a group - I'm used to travelling solo to salsa nights and congresses. Big congresses can appear scarely, but there are always dancers of all levels and a mix of local people and visitors. I'm sure you will find fellow London dancers around, so don't worry :)

Should be a ton of London folk there so you should definitely see some familiar faces. Dance with as many new people as possible... That's my one tip.
That's a good tip. It's easy to play it safe and stick to the dancers I know but always feel great after a challenging dance with someone new!

Thanks, the London scene tends to be very friendly so hopefully it will be fine. I'd ideally like to make more female friends too as it seems harder to do given that you spend all night dancing with men!
