I am sure most if not all have heard about Microsoft pulling out its chatbot Tray after it turned to tweeting rather racist, misogynist and bigoted statements. The bot is based on AI algorithm that learns from the conversations it hears, much as a child would.
I agree with the Engadget author, that with prevalence of social media and more people joining the conversation on the net, the discourse has increasingly become uncivil. I am so glad that we still have healthy interaction on the SF. It is one small oasis in otherwise vast desert of Internet. The internet that is increasingly getting polluted by trolls and worst of things that people want to say while remaining anonymous.
