Journey as a noob dancer

As a beginner salsa dancer, I'm creating a thread (upon request) to document my journey, ask questions, and also share experiences with other dancers. Hopefully, this can be helpful to other beginners like me as well.

As of 4/1/2026, I have about 1.5 months of experiencing dancing salsa.

Should I feel bad for messing up partnerwork combos in class?

Yesterday I took a partnerwork class and kept flopping a part of the combo.

I kind of feel embarrassed when I don’t get the combo. I guess at the level I’m currently taking I am generally able to get the combo (got it in the last few weeks), but didn’t get it fully this time.

It’s just awkward because some followers just basically disengage when you can’t execute the combo well in class.

How do I deal with this?

Atv1 month in.. no. Arguably uou should never feel bad. Of course it ruins my night when I screw up so maybe take someone else's advice.
1.t months into salsa is literally SFA (sweet f^ck all) interesting of time. For leads it takes another ponder to look at and feel natural than one would think. Even lo get in a less supportive ot less talented geographic area.
Unless you are on a performance team you shouldn't feel bad about screwing up in class. If you don't screw up In class, why are you taking classes?

Am I getting addicted to salsa and doing too much?

I am about 1.5 months in, and I spend probably 20+ hours a week on salsa. This week, I took classes from Monday-Saturday for 2-4 hours each day. Then on Friday, I went to a social for 4 hours. On Saturday, I also went to a social for 4 hours.

On Saturday, I literally did 8+ hours of social (4 hours of classes plus a bit over 4 hours at the social).

Today, is Sunday, and I am taking 3 hours of classes + going to another 4-hour social.

Though, the reason I take so many is because my membership is expensive ($250 a month), so I would like to take as many classes as I can until my work benefit that covers it runs out.

Am I doing too much?
