Is there a site that does regular reviews of new Latin music?

I suddenly realized that 2015 had gone by and I had no idea what Latin music had come out this past year. I would like that to change. But I have no idea whether there are any review sites that dig in and give reviews of albums coming out each week.

Back when I used to follow prog rock (I still do a little) I followed the Dutch Progressive Rock Page ( http://www.dprp.net ). They have a group of regular die-hards that regularly go through all kinds of releases and give detailed reviews. This lets me know what is coming out and gives me an idea of what the album is like.

Is there an equivalent to DPRP in the Latin Music world? It seems there should be, since Latin music as a whole has a much bigger audience than prog-rock does globally.

Any suggestions?

descarga.com will keep you informed about what's new, and reissued. Their reviews are not generally in depth but you can also listen to previews.

Yeah, as terence said, descarga.com only reviews physical CD's and DVD's that they sell. They do not provide digital downloads ( yet ). Obviously they want to promote CD sales so you won't find a bad review and almost all releases are an " editor's pick ". Nevertheless, they give you a good idea of what to expect from a new release and they list musician credits ( which I like ) -- and the audio player has good quality clips to check out samples for yourself. It's an excellent source to see what's new each week -- all you have to do is go to the homepage and they are are right there at the top of the page. Bruce Polin runs the site and store out of Brooklyn.

timba.com does reviews of new Timba releases and concerts, some by our very own timberamayor here on SF. Lots of other stuff there too like tour dates, band / musician directory, etc.

There are a couple of Latin Jazz sites that I check out if you dig that -- sometimes they cover Salsa: Latin Jazz Corner and Jazz De La Pena
