So many tips, there have got to be tons of post about this, I know at some point we had a thread called Beginners Corner or something to that effect. I think one of the best tips in learning salsa (well anything) is be patient. Don't try to learn to much to fast, this is a huge temptation when you first start. Guys learn all these crazy combos and drag girls out and jerk them in every which way trying to show that they can dance. Learn to make simple moves look good and be clear. Practice the tedious basics and dont get lazy about shifting your weight when you step, you can be lazy about that once your a certified salsa master. Another really important thing is to either take some privates or get help from someone who has been dancing for awhile, if you dont know what you are doing wrong and therefore what to practice then practicing can sometimes even be counter-productive. Even really advanced girls can work on their basics and styling within the simple moves you learn at first so you should be able to find someone to practice with, especially from class. umm there is tons more, but you must remember this... in salsa the lady come first always always, it is her oppertunity to be more beautiful than she has ever been and your oppertunity to be a humble yet strong leader.
