Hybrid Songs

Recently in one of the clubs, I heard a bachata song which is unique in a way;

I would probably guess it's a rumba song in the first place, but somehow it managed to pull off as a bachata song.

and also very long time ago, I heard of a samba song which was later used as a salsa music

Lastly, I recently got a bachata song. It sound more like a Tango song, but can be bachata-dance-able.

Have anyone of you heard of those kind of hybrid songs before ?

yup...salsarengue (salsa/merengue), bachatarengue (bachata/merengue) among others...

Bachateo (Reggaeton with Bachata sound), Salsaton etc

A proper hybrid is fine but songs which switch genres every 20 seconds are annoying. One second the music is clearly Salsa and then it's Merengue or Reggaeton when the guest singer/rapper comes in and then its changes back to Salsa again :headwall:

That song Victor Manuelle & Elvis Crespo or Charlie Cruz feat Chris y Angel "dejala que baile (Salsaton version)" .

I would also nominate Salsa Celtica's "maggies pancakes/yo me voy" and "el agua de la vida" as ultra undancable songs. Unless you actually like doing a jig halfway through a song. ;)

Very true. We had one band that played for Cinco de Mayo and they did that. I just stopped dancing after a while and left. I cannot stand just random switching from one genre to another.

Yeah yeah. I'm sure you're telling Americans that Ireland's version of a niteclub is a barn with the girls on one side and the guys on another. Where everone is doing Irish Dancing as depicted in that scene from Titanic :roll:
Well I do anyway ;)

I only knew two guys who did Irish Dancing whose mothers forced them to do it. They were bullied a lot. Even a niece of mine who was heavily into is now doing Hip Hop instead.

ps
I was living in London when the whole Line Dance/Garth Brooks thing happened so I can't incorporate that into Salsa. What a shame :cry: ;)

Well somethimes I like it! When you're dancing with a good partner it's realy nice to improvice!
In Holland there is a new upcoming reggaeton group called Ghetto Flow (Dominicans). They made a reggaeton song with merengue in it...called Cuando Suena mi Voz (it's on YouTube ;))
It's a very good, new style song that even Don Omar asked them to work with him!
