How do you feel about Bachata?

In Cali African roots, salsa, yuca, corn and football (soccer) are all very common/popular. Cumbia too to a lesser extent. Baseball and dominoes (assuming you don't mean the pizzas, which actually are popular in Cali): not so much. That kinda messes up your theory.
Baseball is played in Colombia but is not king.

You can find some Colombian players in MLB but is almost imposible to find from Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay, etc.

Maybe in the US the countries you mentioned have bigger populations because of different reasons. Compare Paraguay 25 000 migrants in the US to Colombia over 4 000 000, obviously you won't find many MBL players with a paraguayan background.

Also according to wikipedia, Argentina and Brazil won most south american baseball championship. In latinamerican series, Nicaragua was the nation with most winning teams. Your theory doesn't hold.

True but I can tell you in 1 year and 8 months in Colombia no one has ever mentioned it to me nor have I ever seen it mentioned or advertised anywhere. And I hang overwhelmingly with locals and am member of numerous active Whatsapp groups for locals.

I suspect it's a pretty niche hobby.

Curious to hear what you guys think of this

According to the girl she's puerto rican, dancing guajira to a bachata. I don't know what puerto rican guajira dance is but i'm impressed.

I mean, it's impressive how she still manages to have hip motion despite being thrown around like a ragdoll at times.

My thoughts too. Whenever the guy was not dancing in place, he was throwing her around like a ragdoll.

The speed of her turns/speed is impressive. I could feel the whiplash just watching! I think she only turns in the 5th gear :)

I know Bachata Sensual is generally disliked around here (for very good reasons :p). But how do you feel about regular Bachata?

I like the music, particularly artists like Antony Santos, Luis Vargas, Raulín Rodríguez, Frank Reyes, and Aventura. As far as dancing, I enjoy dancing it in the DR or with someone I know outside of the DR. I'm not really into dancing bachata at events like congresses unless it is with someone I have an interest in.

My question is more about the style in general. I guess it can be danced like that without all the fast spins. I think it looks nice, and i also like that they didn't call it Bachata although the music is a sped up bachata.

Slower version of the same song, different dancers:

I don't know where these are from, but looks really nice. I think this also relates to the thread about flavourful steps. When partnerwork and complicated moves is limited, there is no option but to make it flavourful :)

Non-dominicans take on "dominican style" i guess.

Because not all throwing around is equaly unpleasant for the follower. This actually looks much less severe than typical terry's dance (in addition that most followers being thrown around by Terry don't have this kind of hip movement anyway)

Other reason is the way how she steps compared to most progressed salsa followers

Dominican - 9 (Some songs are too fast for me. Otherwise I love)
Others - 9 (I definitely like slow, soft bachata).
BS-dance - ?? I understand its a fusion ? It is a bit of over dramatic sometimes.

On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your feelings towards Bachata?

Bachata is a beautiful dance, and it allows me to express myself through movement. I'm enthralled by the guitar rhythms. Despite the negative comments regarding sensual bachata, it's all about the connection. Combine my love for bachata with some beautiful music like Senorita by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, and Blinding Lights by Dani J, and I would rate my feelings towards bachata a 10!
