How do I react when a girl walks away?

So last night I was at Mayte Vicens' dance party at Dance Manhattan and I was dancing with this very advanced girl, and after I led her into a free spin she did a long walk down the dance floor. Now I followed her doing my basic breaking forward each step, but I wonder if there was some styling thing she was expecting me to do?

oh I thought you meant she walked away while you were dancing..like " I don't want to dance with you anymore." lol...dude..follow her..

Just make something up to the music. When you find something you like, keep practicing it everytime it happens until you have it down and then change to something else. Always keep them guessing, that way they'll never get bored of dancing with you.

Do your own shines in place until she comes back ?

Given this was in NYC, I take you're dancing on 2. So if you send her travelling/spinning on 1, she will finish by 6,7, at which time you should be next to her to continue dancing. Either go back to closed postion on 6,7 or wait untill the 1 or 2 beat to go staight into cross body lead.
The way you end up next to her, it's up to you. Mostly you can travel too, turning yourself. Try not to stay behind and then run across the floor.. :p. (you can either travel behind her, or you can go faster and go around her, or... ). Just remember that she will finish on 6/7, so you need to be there on time.
Of courser the easiest way out is to do shines, but still you need to come next to her, otherwise some other couples will start dancing in the space in between you.
