Highlighting Salsa Dee Jays From Around the World

El Caobo

Son Montuno
Hello, fellow dee jays!

I plan to dedicate 20 minutes of my radio shows to highlight and promote fellow dee jays from around the world. When you send me a 20 minute mp3 set of your music, if I like it and believe that it matches the format of my show (salsa de la mata), I will play it and announce your name, location, etcetera.

Also, when I create the podcast of the show, I will add a link to your facebook account. You may include "drops" in your music if you want.

If you are interested, please send your 20 minute mp3 file to me at [email protected].

Please keep in mind that I am the sole judge as to whether or not your set fits the format of the show.

I think that is a great idea El Caobo, even if I am too busy at the moment to contribute immediately myself. I hope to do so soon when I find some time (I am in Rio right now sorting out a thousand things at the same time). Just a question, would you need the names of the songs in the set?

No, I wouldn't need the names of the tracks. It's completely up to the other dee jay. If they want me to give the names of the song in the set, I will, if not I won't, or he or she can just not send the titles to me.

So, you will need about 4 to 5 full songs as they would be played by a DJ within his or her set, right?

I prefer full songs, but it's up to you. Your goal is to introduce yourself and give a sampling of your music style.

As long as the music flows well, and isn't too different from the type of music that I champion, it's fine. For example, no salsa romantica, nor salsaton, nor other sub-genres that I do not appreciate.

We think the same, my friend! :)

I've passed it on to some of the DJs in NL. Not sure if they will participate but at least the word is getting out ;)

I think it is good to have some secrets as regards salsa music. On one side the DJs need some special music to differentiate their sets, so it is not good to give away certain names, while on the other hand the internet makes stealing music very easy and we all know that forums such as this one contain many lurking music pirates.

So, a little bit of mystery will be in the interest of most parties concerned!

Are you referring to the song information? If so, please note that I announced the names of every song during the show. It's important that you have some incentive to listen to the live show or at least the podcast, so I'd rather not give the song list. That info has to be gotten from actually listening.
