Hello from a long time SF lurker from SF, and apologies to an SF dancer

Hi everyone,

I am yet another beginner salsa dancer. I have read many many threads on this forum and still come here when I have a bad night dancing. You guys are the reason I have stuck to salsa, and are my salsa skill compass when I am lost. I am in the SF Bay Area.

Also, this past Monday, I was in Neck of the Woods, and during one of my right turns, I elbowed a guy passing by in the face. I still feel terrible about it, and if that guy is a member on this forum or reads this forum, I wish to apologize to you. And if that guy is not a member, well, I will make sure I am more aware of the people around me next time! I dance pretty small (I think!), but in a crowded space, people need to get by me and may be in very close proximity. SORRY!

Also I'm an hour away from Nashville till the 1st. Any Nashville SF'ers want to clue me in on which night might be worth ditching the family to go dancing? :D :D

Hi SaborWut and welcome to Salsa Forums :)

Glad to know that you've stuck with Salsa due, in part from reading the forums :)

I'm sure the guy didn't take it personally. Also, was he walking in your line of dance? Some people are just asking to get hit if they walk right into your slot, so I wouldn't feel too bad.

See you around :)

Most dancers will know how to pass by others who are dancing. It happens though. It's good to apologize right away or after your dance if you can. Or better yet . . . ask them to dance the next dance.

Hi. From another Bay Area dancer.

Hi. From another Bay Area dancer.

Hi Marty! I have read several of your posts on this forum. Very helpful.

I'm a leader myself so I don't know if he would have danced with me since I am not very good at following, yet!

Well, the dance area was tiny so I guess he had no choice but to come close. It has made me realize that I must be more aware.

I am very strict about being on time. So I think I have developed this bad habit where I wait until the last moment to do my own turn, resulting is very snap like movements. So if the follower turns on 567, and I want to do a Cuban half turn while she is turning, I wait until the last second before I execute the half turn, so as not to twist their arm and stay on time. Unfortunately this has leaked into every turn I do. If I do a right turn, I finish 80% of the turn on the 2-3. So I really need to be aware of my elbow!!
