Good Club Music

Hey Folks,
I need your help. I go to this club in my town and the DJ plays decent Salsa music - not bad, but not the best either. I'm working on him.

He also plays really out-dated non-salsa music (merengue, bachata, etc.). It's pretty bad. He thinks Livin' La Vida Loca is still cool (not sure if it ever was).

For those of you who are in cities that are more in tune with the Latin club scene, what sort of non-salsa music are DJs playing - (ie. reggaeton, latin hip hop, merengue, etc.) Which ones are your favorite?

Thanks,

A far as merengue, La Banda Gorda is hot right now in Florida. Particularly the Puro Mambo CD. Watch out for Traigo Fuego. You'll have a heart attack dancing to that song!

Where I've gone, the DJ plays "Gasolina" during the non-salsa music break.

"Culebra" by Grupo Niche gets a lot of play also.

How is "Culebra" not salsa? I don't have any problem dancing salsa to that. It does switch things up a bit with the rapping, but it's quite danceable as salsa. (Sorry for delayed response, but I just found this thread while searching for something else.)
