Hi, by the way, I'm a boy in case anyone was wondering. I think it would be helpful if people actually filled in their gender in their profiles. Then no more confusion moments...

Hi, my name is Will, and I've been sober for .. hang on, start again!

Anyway yes I saw action here and thought I would drop by.

Aloha!

new member - Steve

Well I didn't see a sticky or running post on new members so I will post here. A little about myself... Well my name is Steve and I am rather new to the Salsa scene. I am currently taking a salsa class at UWM. Dance is a required elective with all the undergraduate programs here, so I decided to give salsa a try. Everything is very new to me (especially given my background), but so far it has been rather enjoyable. Well looks like you guys have some good information here so I look forward to learning more. ;)

First, welcome to SF, nihilus!

It's nice to hear that you're so far enjoying your journey to become the best social salsa dancer you can be. As for a thread to introduce new members, we certainly have one that's slightly hidden here in the Anonymous section, but has the nice title Getting to Know You Index, where I moved your post to. So enjoy your stay here!

Ah, here it is. Thanks for the warm welcome ChrisK. I don't mean to sound to pushy my first day, but I would like to do a questionairre with somebody from the 'old school' and sombody from the 'new school' in relation to salsa dance. If anybody is interested please PM me. Thanks guys and gals.

First, while any member can send you a PM, you'll currently be unable to answer them since we've limited the PM ability for new members as it's been abused by spammers to annoy our members. Also it might be helpful if you provide more information on what kind of questionaire you want to do as the info you want might already be available in some threads. For a start take a look at Oldies but goodies… and/or On1, On2, Cuban, whatever... SF salsa style guide, where you can find reference to lots of interesting old and new threads that we had.

Welome to Salsaforums.com, DJ.E!

In case you're wondering, I've moved your post to this thread, since it has been specifically created for new members to introduce themselves, if they like.

Hello, everyone. I ran across this forum and looked like my kind of place. I play bass in a salsa band, and do writing and arranging. Looking forward to making friends and learning more!

Welcome to SF, AndrewT!

It's great to read that we've got another salsa musician on board now, who also does composing. I suppose then that you'll probably enjoy our 'music' section then a lot.

My goodness salsa really IS everywhere if they have salsa bands in Arkansas too ;) Any video of your band at YouTube?

We have a couple live clips up on youtube, but the recording quality's not great. I have a link to our online press kit in my profile, it's got some studio recordings with a charanga setup.

Allow me to introduce myself...

Hi, I'm Natty & I'm from the wonderful land of Oz!

After having a 10 year break from dancing other styles, I started taking salsa lessons in June this year & am well and truly hooked! Why didn't I try this sooner?!

I take at least one lesson a week (if I could afford to do it 24/7 I'd try! ;)) and go social dancing at least three times a week. I have an incredibly supportive husband who doesn't mind me dancing at all, in fact he's quite happy about it - because he doesn't have a wife nagging him to dance any more

I love to watch other dancers do their thing, everyone has their own style & you can always learn something.

I've been a lurker on the forums for some time and have absorbed so much information. Thanks to all for being so willing to share your knowledge & passion :friend:

Hi Natty. Glad you finally decided to join! What a great domestic situation you have with a supportive husband. I think all salseros have the same question: "why didn't I start this sooner?" But now you have so enjoy!

And that's the famous question that we all aks ourselves. :)

Hm, sounds like a shiny example for our talks about relationships, where one partner isn't interested in salsa at all. :)

Fantastic, so maybe you can then contribute a bit of your experience, knowledge and opinion on those topics that interest you? Or feel free to ask (in the matching thread ;)) whatever questions you have.
