SummerStage, a program of the New York City Parks Foundation, is presenting performances of outstanding artistic quality, free of charge, to serve the diverse communities of New York City. The ABAKUÁ Afro-Latin Dance Company is part of a diverse summer-long lineup in celebration of the 25th Anniversary year of SummerStage!
The Company will present a one hour program featuring dance choreography reflecting the versatility and innovative vision inspired by modern dance deeply rooted in Afro-Latin popular and social dance.
The evening begins with an introductory workshop given by ABAKUÁ, followed by an opening performance by Areytos Performance Works prior to the program. The program includes two timeless choreographies from ABAKUÁ’s distinguished repertoire, Raíces and Life and Death of Suzy Q!
