For advice to making video tutorials, what would be the features and structure yo wou

I was watching some random youtube vids today and though it would be good to have some input as to how to increase the quality of the videos.

I please don't want any comments in relation to the relative skill of the dancer. just the construction of their video.

Some things I was just mulling inside my head were.

* quickly show the finished product before the training section starts.
* don't repeat so much(its a video we can repeat as many times as we like)
* include music right from the get go, even if its just the cowbell keeping time or some such.
* have on screen display for any information that you can quickly reference, like the name of a step, or whether its on two or on one
* show full body, unless you are really focusing on specifics
* possibly show a split screen or frame inserts for specifics
* show men and women distinctly as we have different flava
* be as detailed as possible, pack in as much verbal information as you can, the watcher can selectively choose what to pay attention to and repeat anything else when they have mastered what they are currently following along with.
* make the backdrop not so bland, but not distracting
* same goes for the instructors
* add some short funny educational anecdotes

if you got any more or can link me to a thread that already covers this topic GO GO GO!!!

Don't wear black and loose clothing, especially on the dark background. Don't cover ankles. Basically I want to see joints.

Absolutely the number one video mistake I see instructors choosing costumes or backgrounds (or combinations thereof) that obscure what they're trying to demonstrate. Just because a costume looks good on stage doesn't mean it's appropriate for an instructinoal video.

Sometimes the reason they do that is BECAUSE it obscures and thereby makes them look better. e.g. baggy trousers to cover knee bends and long trousers to cover foot technique.

Yes. And they don't look so fat, but it's not good for student.

Perhaps, but two of the videos I'm thinking of in particular are from Jayson Molina and Santo Rico.
