Flava Invasion!

Gordon Neil presents...
Flava Invasion on February 25, 2006. Join us in Hotlanta as the hottest salsa/mambo stars converge upon the city for this major event, culminating in a series of intensive workshops (taught on1 and on2) and a mega party--complete with hours of the best salsa, mambo, and cha cha music, social dancing, a Jack and Jill contest, special surprises, and huge giveaways. The party will also feature star performances by Chicago's Sekou McMiller and Cristina Zavala, and Atlanta's own Gordon Neil with New Jersey's Griselle Ponce. Special guests in attendance will include salsa celebrities Ana and Joel from Boston, Detroit's Laura Geldys, Jareau Almeyda from imambo.tv, Toronto's Magna Gopal, DC's Shaka Brown, and more.

Flava Invasion will take place at the Abbey, centrally located in the heart of Atlanta. The gorgeous venue, a fully-restored former church, is a local historic landmark, complete with stained-glass windows, and will provide the perfect setting for this history-making event.

Prize sponsors include ATP Events, StuckonSalsa.com/SOS All-Star Salsa Cruise, Piel Canela-Atlanta, PR Productions, Shaka Brown, and Magna Gopal, so you know the giveaways are going to be big! Expect attendees from all over the southeast and beyond. Whether you're a die-hard salsero or just curious to see what the craze is all about, you don't want to miss this event. Join us for Flava Invasion--certain to cement Atlanta's spot on the salsa map.

Any southern SF members (or any others, for that matter) should seriously consider attending this. It is going to be a blast!

How much is too much?

I've taken the advice of doing a few spins everytime you're in the bathroom, but how much should you practice away from plumbing? I've found that I get sick after 2 or 3 and seem to be getting worse as I go.

Not sure if you meant this post to appear in this thread... I'll reply in one of your spin threads ( here) instead.

I can't wait! I've got lots of out of town people coming to stay with me. This is gonna be one awesome party!

Hey guys,

since this thread from the first Flava Invasion was resurrected, I just want to emphasize the talent lineup for this year, which includes some back-by-popular-demand acts from previous editions, as well as new additions. This year's talent:

Juan Matos and Candy Mena/Fogarate Dance Company (Milan, Italy)
Ana and Joel Massicot and Masacote Dance Company (Boston)
Shaka Brown and Clavekazi Dance Company (Washington, DC)
Sekou McMiller and Descarga Caribe Dance Company (Chicago)
Magna Gopal (Toronto/New Jersey)
Leon Rose (London)
Griselle Ponce (New Jersey)
Henry Herrera and Angely Carucci (Cuba/Venezuela/Miami)
Eric Baez/Universal Mambo Dance Company (Orlando)
Gordon Neil (ATLANTA)

Musical guests: Fania legend Larry Harlow and Joel Massicot live with Orquesta Macuba

I also want to remind everyone that this year's event is at the Atlanta Hilton Downtown, quite a step up from our first year at The Abbey, and even last year at the Holiday Inn. The Hilton is located near all of Atlanta's major attractions, including the Georgia Aquarium (the largest aquarium in the world), the new World of Coca-Cola, Centennial Olympic Park, the CNN Center, Underground Atlanta, and more. But with all the great things that Flava will have in store, the question is if you will even have time for anything else!

Flava Invasion is more than a salsa congress, it is a cultural arts event. Be a part of the convergence...
