Festival and Travel Planner 2025

On the topic of videos, I saw dance casa festival in Budapest is trying to implement no videos/phones 4-6am.
By that time at most festivals the professional videographers have stopped shooting. Steve generally is not shooting beyond 4am. Only on rare occasions I see him do that. He is mingling and dancing. First 4 hours is when he does most shooting.

Only hardcore dancers are left after 4am. A lot of other people have left.

has anyone been? Thinking of going there, to all star festival, and maybe El Sol fall. Dunno how it is these days cause I stopped going since the Sangate closed.
I liked Katowice and I liked Tromboranga. You might like romantica. El Sol was professionally organized as always.

Anyone thinking of attending either of these? Both on the weekend of 28th November...

Salsa Grand - Zagreb, Croatia
Dance Congress Hamburg - Germany

I'll be in Hamburg, at least on Saturday, not sure about any of the other days. I'm not sure it will draw any crowd at all, as MamboJazz suggests, beyond locals. It was a fairly small event last year and will most likely remain small. But it's close enough to my my town to drive and the organizers are nice people trying to build up a good school in Hamburg, so it's definitely worth supporting.

Seriously looking at:
11.1 Budapest all stars
11.6 Warsaw el sol
11.28 Zagreb salsa grand
Any insights on local scenes between Warsaw n Zagreb between those dates?

Review Porto Salsa Weekend 2025

Porto last year was different for me than other festivals: the only one where I preferred the night partys over the afternoon socials. That was because the afternoon venue was too small so it got too crowded, and the night venue is really nice, bigger than it appears on videos.

So I had decided before already that this year I skip the afternoon socials and instead go cycling during day along the atlantic coastline, as there is a wonderful bicycle route. I enjoyed that a lot. I was also lucky with the weather, mind it’s often rainy in northern Portugal.

So, the dancing: I had just arrived at thursday preparty at 22 p.m. when five minutes later DJ Sergio (who is also the organizer) announced they had to stop the party now: they hadn't expected so much people for the small venue and it was too loud. The venue was the same as for the afternoon parties, it's the bar of a hostel, so probably other guests complained. Apparently they hadn't thought enough about it. Contrary to his statement I didn't see too much people, but I didn't mind as I didn't feel in the mood for dancing anyway. The salseros took it peacefully, entrance for this preparty was free, but I wondered how a drunk reggaeton crowd would have reacted.

Friday night I still didn't get into the groove. I think it was a good party, but I left early. Fortunately finally saturday night party was great for me: lots of wonderful dances with amazing followers, I also saw some great leads. Ratio was about equal, sometimes I had to go searching for free women. No stars as there are no workshops, but Steve Starmambo was on the floor, so this could be your chance to get recorded if you want that. The venue is rather dark and has a reddish light, so I guess one could return 80 years old and still look favorable.

In my opinion organizers should think about the afternoon venue. Night partys are great but I may not take the hazzle of taking an airplane again only for that.

For the water price chronists: small water bottle at the bar was just 1 euro, I was so surprised. Next year in Berlin I will remember that.

I heard mixed reviews based on last year. After your review, I'm glad I didn't go. I like the concept and want to visit Portugal. I wonder if the organizers will address the issues you raised.

A friend reported that the after party on Monday was canceled without much notice, either.

This sounds pretty bad.
