Eddie Torres Mambo Video instruction

Hello everyone-

I am interested in learning salsa on 2. I know the steps but it's not great and I really want it to become second nature to me like dancing on 1 has become. I found a dvd from Eddie Torres that explains mambo. Do you all think this is a wise investment? I can always refer back to it for clarification. Any thoughts?

I think it is wiser to attend classes then watch videos. You will learn much faster that way and you will get feedback from instructor. If you live in Chicago then you have very good on2 teachers there (like Descarga Caribe or Micah from Mambofodadaz).
 
I agree with Slawek that classes are better than videos for basic instruction. But you're right...you can always use the video for a reference. Honestly though, I would save my DVD cash for something you might not be able to get. Style for example...you might like certain styles from instructors that are not in your area(Shaka Brown, Seaon, Frankie Martinezs body isolations...etc). For on2 you might want to try bailasociety.com

Great instruction with plenty of material, and for an affordable price.
 
I got "Eddie Torres Teaches Salsa Nightclub Style" on DvD and it was good for a beginner level introduction - but no substitute for actually dancing with a range of partners. If your on1 is solid, I recommend "moving the one to the six" and getting out there and doing it a lot. It is not quite that simple, but I think that will get you 70% of the way there with very little additional outlay. You'll want a private or two or a tame on2 teacher or very friendly expert on2 dancer to address some of the subtler points of the changeover, but I think the practice is more work than the theory on this one.
