Eastern Cuban son with tresillo based bass tumbao

Hi,

Could anyone give me a name of a son done in the Eastern Cuban style with a tresillo based bass tumbao. Something like La Familia Valera Miranda. However the songs I have of theirs don't have that strong bombo/ponche bass which i'm looking for.

I want to show a friend how to dance son contratiempo, and I think such a song would clearly show the link between the steps and the music and why people chose to dance it contratiempo.

Thanks

Not 100% what you're looking for, but "Yo soy tiburon" in the Version from Sierra Maestra comes to my mind.
It's not a tresillo bass, but marking the clave very clearly.
Sorry, no link, I can't find it on youtube....
I think it's on grooveshark though...

I think lots of classic Mambo and also older PR Salsa use that bass too, unfortunately I have no examples right now.

Hi LatinJazz, yeah i'm looking for something a bit more traditional then Sierra Maestra - i.e no brass or congas and without the western cuban influence. The less instruments the better for my purposes.

I see...
I'm afraid I can't help then.
Quite often you can't hear the bass well in the conjuntos, and when I could they're just playing normal tumbao...
I hope somebody else can! Good luck!
I'll post it if I find something.

I was told that pretty much anything by Sexteto Habanero should do it. But since they are from Havana maybe that's not what you want. But to illustrate your point I was told all their music should fit your criteria.
