Desert Island Salsa.....

I plan to be stranded with an iPod classic 160GB so I don't have to choose, as my favorite changes with my moods. But if I have to pick just one...it might be...Lo último en vivo by Los Van Van. But then tomorrow maybe my mood will be different ;)

Who gets stranded on a desert island these days? Well, it happened to Gilligan, Tom Hanks and the cast of Lost in recent times, so I suppose it's possible...

Ok, if I was in an airplane that was going down over the South Pacific and I had a parachute and a bunch of my favorite Salsa albums at hand I would first make sure the parchute was secure, then I'd probably grab Eddie Palmieri's White Album. But even if I had that one album and made it safely onto the desert island, how would I play it?

Assume you've a small solar panel you can attatch to your mp3 player or whatever......

Thats exactly it. I'm looking to start building a collection and I'm looking for some suggestions / ideas.

Good luck. ;)

I tried another approach: I found five lists of Best/Top salsa songs - one listing a few hundred songs, three separate Top 100 lists and a Top 40 list - and put them into a spreadsheet. I wound up with a total of about 1,050 songs.

Then I deleted all the duplicates, thinking I'd cut that number in half. To my surprise, I wound up with 888 songs. There are songs on the Top 40 list that aren't featured on ANY of the other lists.

And there were some songs that even an amateur like me would recognize as gotta have classics that weren't featured on any of the lists.

It really illustrates how different people's taste in music is.
