Dancing in Amsterdam

Wow thanks everyone for the info. I really really appreciate it. My friend put me in touch with DJ Mauri so I will definitely be checking out the Salsa Lounge on Sunday.

What time does public transportation stop? I will find my way to these destinations using the public transpo but on the way home what's the best way? Cab?

Not sure if I will venture to far out of the city. I will even walk or jog home if it is only 2-3km away an safe.

What other non salsa related events are happening that weekend? Thanks. Looking forward to this trip more and more now.

I'm not at home today so I only have my phone with me. public transport technically goes 24/7 (night busses) but after midnight it gets a bit inconvenient. cabs are an alternative but not one I'd recommend as quality has gone down an d a lot of people get ripped off since they've eased up the rules to become a cab driver. If you do take a cab try sharing with a local to avoid getting a, not so free, tour of the city.

august 28th there is Club Mystique in Amsterdam, nice location, good floor and all kinds of level of dancers... I liked it a lot last time.. and the 28th I will be there again :D

Thanks for the info Francisco. I'll probably check out Cantinero first since it is close by to where I will be staying and maybe Mystique after.

Do people dance On1 or On2 in AMS?
 
lolita, how did you find the salsa scene in Amsterdam? Where did you manage to go? I'd love to know how things are there these days.

What time does public transportation stop running? On Sunday it looks I will take the Metro to Weesperplein and walk to Hotel Arena and if I go to Westergasfabriek on Thursday I will take Bus 21 from Centraal. But not sure if I will be able to get home using public transpo.

I didn't realize Bas already answered my question on the operating hours! Sorry. Looks like I will be doing a lot of walking
 
Oops, missed this one.

I'm pretty sure that night busses stop near both Hotel Arena and Westergasfabriek.

You can make sure by stopping by the tourist info opposite of Central Station though. They should have route plans for the night busses

Thursday I won't be there but I'll be in Zoetermeer. Had completely forgotten but I had promised friends I would go. Friday and Saturday are still very much up in the air but I'll definitely be there on Sunday.

Just arrived! Supposed to meet up with some friends but if they aren't around, I'll head to Westergasfabriek tonight. Hopefully it warms up, it's chilly right now.
 
Got totally wrecked in Leidseplein yesterday so I am gonna have easy night out at Cantinero. Hopefully some of u will be there.
 
Back. Wow it's amazing how much space that club has lol. No one danced on2 :( and it was mostly Cuban style. Also no one knew how to dance cha cha when they played the one and only song. Hopefully Salsa Lounge is better tomorrow.
