Dance sneakers!

Well i'll be trying out my new dance sneakers tonight!
After reading some past posts on here and speaking to my instructor about it i decided to go with a pair of bloch dance sneakers.
I have until now been wearing trainers (didnt want to fork out money til i knew if i liked it/was good at it) and felt the last few weeks that my knees were taking the strain after spins so i've treated myself.
And of course they're a lovely shade of pink!
Wish me luck! :D

They're great for dancing in (I wear them myself), but they make your feet hurt like hell! There's no ankle or arch support. Make sure you stretch your feet and ankles before you start dancing.

I've been toying with the idea of buying a pair of Nikes and getting them re-soled in suede :)

I used blochs at first and I like them, but I've switched to a sansha 'buzz split' as they're a lot lighter - to be honest I usually dance in jazz shoes these days as they take up next to no room in my bag andI can carry them around all the time in case I choose to grab an impromptu night out - although it's damn painful when someone steps on you as they don't give a lot by way of protection.

When i went to the dancewear shop to choose dancing shoes i tried a pair of split sole jazz shoes and i felt (it sounds silly) like they were almost to flat! I know that the sneaker is also flat but the jazz pump felt rather like dancing in bare feet, which i can't say is very comfortable. It did cross my mind that someone standing on your toes would have a lot of ouch factor, so i went with the sneakers. Hoping they're ok over the length of the evening as so far i've only worn them to have a quick mambo in the shop!

let me know how it goes :) :) I been thinking to do that with a pair of k-swiss

-- I used a combination of several shoes depending on the floor surface. Generally is either

-jazz shoes ( which I love ), rubber soles if floor is not that great, suede if it is

-swing shoes with leather soles ( very comfortable, great protection, great sole, only downside, they are more restrictive than jazz shoes, and if surface is too smooth they can be slippery)

What do you guys use for real slippery floors? I was at the Chicago Congress in February and it was waaaay too slippery wearing my smooth leather-soled shoes.

I have four pairs of suede-soled shoes, two of which work well on slippery floors. Rubber-soled dance sneakers also worked well for slippery floors, but I stopped wearing them because I wasn't comfortable in them (I prefer having a bit of heels).

if slippery I stayed away from the leather soles, too dangerous and is no fun dancing when you have to be over controlling your moves to maintain balance,

if the floor is slippery by virtue of the floor itself ( rather than spilled drinks) I use suede jazz shoes, if the floor is of not great quality then I use rubber jazz shoes. If the floor is just nasty my dances shoes never leave their bag, I just use street shoes

So I assume suede "grips" better than smooth leather?

Related question - Has anyone ever had a pair of favorite shoes re-soled with suede leather? I've had some nice dress shoes re-soled, but it's always with a smooth leather similar to what was on them when they were new. I guess there would be no reason they couldn't re-sole them with suede instead.

oh for sure, smooth leather specially when new has very little grip in a wood floor, which depending what you want to do can be good or bad :)
