Contemporary Son Recommendations

I have realized that of all the Latin Music that I play, my friends seem to respond the most positively to contemporary Son (perh. By that I mean things like:

Any leads on other songs that are similar?
I'll see what I cna find. I think most of the suff I know is either more traditional or more pop. But what about songs like the original Polo Montañez versiosn of Monton de estrellas or Flor palida? Maybe they are still too traditional. I'm going to see if I can find stuff by Leoni or Kelvis Ochoa maybe that isn't too pop.

There is Asere. To be honest it is not music I usually listen to. I think they have songs that are son and that sound contemporary.
Here is an example.

I like the song, but, it does not "mark " one of the defining characters in a dominant 8 and 4.

It sounds like what you really mean is "slow & simple contemporary son", because there are also plenty of faster/more 'lively' modern son songs that are very nice.

Examples: Septeto Santiaguero, Septeto Turquino (another Santiago band), Conjunto Arsenio Rodriguez.

I think Someone mentioned septeto Santiguero. They have a fantastic double Album. Disc 2 has guest singers like Oscar DeLeon. Great traditional Son but lively and modern feeling (to me).

The album is called Tributo a los Compadres No Quiero Llanto for the curious. Thanks 1derpalm, looking into it now :)

Edit: some great stuff there!
