Charanga Light Vol II Ay Dios!

This is the same band that did: Nube Pasajera? Cucurucho? Lola, Lola? Gozando a lo Cubano? Chela mia? Chica mala?

This is so so sad. Can it be that bad that I refuse to buy their next album???

Quite a difference isn't it and yet they are sooooo huge. It's the teenage grls (and probably a lot of young guys as well) that are the target audience. Of course this is one of their "light" CDs which are boys-to-men type songs, so this is what you get. Still they will never be the same cutting edge band they were in the 90s.

Don't say never. Calzado must still be capable of writing good songs. What is going to happen is that Michel Maza is getting out of prison and then he's hooking back up with David and then ......

What a lovely dream :) BTW I agree he's capable of writing great stuff but he's leaning so much into the reggaeton/pop stuff to please teenagers that I'm having trouble sticking with him. CH used to be my hands-down favorite group.

I looked at this thread expecting to hear nice charanga. Can you imagine my disappointment? :(
Sorry, I should have had Charanga Habanera in the title as well to avoid confusion. I can imagine your horror at getting Cuban Boy Band romantica instead hahaha. But I wonder if any of CH REAL charanga days songs are at youtube...I should investigate and maybe upload some of them if they are not.

Wow if I heard this on the radio without announcement, I would never ever associate this music with CH. That's slightly disturbing. Is it possibly at a stage where it becomes so different that it's effectively a new band? Seems to me they could have a different operating title when they are going to do 'softcore romantica' :P Not on my to buy list methinks!

They did one of these Charanga Light CDs before and then went back to their regular style, so itäs more juts a way to sell more records to teenage girls. I'm not concered aht this is a serious direction they are going. They may have some more dancable songs on the CD too like they did on the last Charanga Light CD.

For example el cucurucho was on the last Light CD
