Canada in October

I'm considering going to the Toronto salsa congress in October (yes, I'm impatient about planning my next vacation :) ), October 9-13. I'm thinking of going to the Saturday and Sunday sessions, and then flying or taking a train to Montreal and possibly Quebec City for another few days. What do Canadians (and others) think of this plan? Where else should I consider going? Should I go to the earleir congress days (I mostly want to dance and maybe take a few workshops). Toronto downtown hotels are pretty expensive for that wekeend, so I'm considering renting a car and getting something outside of town - is that going to be worth my while (traffic, parking, distance - wise?) What kind of transport is there between provinces? Are there cheap local flights between Ontario and Quebec? Is there a somewhat scenic train that's not too expensive?

If you are going for the dancing, the best days of the Canada Salsa Congress are Friday and Saturday.

If you enjoy driving -a lot- go ahead and stay out of town for the congress, but my opinion is that it is not worth it. Hey it is your sanity we are talking about here.

As for travelling to Montreal or Quebec city, do yourself a favour and take the train. Quick, inexpensive and even relaxing. It takes you downtown to downtown with no hassles. Flying is expensive and when you add up the shuttle from the airport and all the wasted time, it gets very expensive. Google VIArail for info.

Saturday is definitely the busiest night for dancing. Sunday is also good too because everyone is relaxed and just having a good time. The "prostars" are more easily accessible for dancing.

And since you want to do workshops then I suggest going on Saturday and Sunday.

Hey Nika, Me and a few guys from NYC are heading up to Montreal for a Road trip in a couple of weeks (Nov22nd to the 24th- Saturday / Sunday night)

Can you make any good On2 Spots to dance? If possible, any tips on a good hotel that is in the area?

Thanks,

VJ

There is a big party in Montreal that weekend. San Tropez is having their 15th year anniversary. Go check it out.
