Cali, Colombia - Salsa Capital: The "Audiciones"

DJ Ara

Son Montuno
This is a soon to happen event announcement here in Cali, I am including it here to give people an idea of the type of salsa events that happen in the salsotecas in this city, which is home to not just one, but various salsa scenes..

The venue for the events below is La Casa Latina, owned by the legendary DJ, collector and connoisseur, Gary Dominguez. This is the man who created the collector's and connoisseur's encounter which happens during the five days of La Feria de Cali.

The Spanish speakers in this forum will get a better idea of the events, but the non Spanish speakers are free to ask questions:

What a great place to live.:) ........ I didn't even know Don Kike Lucca was still alive. Que Caballo. Makes me wonder though, what is the longest lasting group/band of any musical genre? I bet La Sonora is right up there with the oldest of them. El Gran Combo too.

Cali is a great place to live for sure. If you are home and you don't want to listen to your own music, then all you do is turn on the FM radio.:) During the week one can see some salsa on TV as well. If one does not feel like dancing, but wants to hear great salsa in a club, then one can head for one of the many salsotecas, such as La Casa Latina featured in my first post in this thread, get a drink and listen to some great stuff.

Incidentally, one of the best salsotecas here is called La Ponceña, where the DJ plays mainly vinyls together with some rare salsa concert dvds! :)
