Booked!!

Yup I've just booked and paid for my September trip to the UK Salsa Congress!! I'm so excited!! This will be my second congress and by far the largest event the UK has to offer. I'm sharing with two fellow salseras that I've met through a couple of clubs we go to and I'm so excited I could explode right now on the spot. Yay yay yay!!

I've also booked. I've had to go for the "share with a stranger" option -- but I've done that a few times before and have met good people through congress room sharing. I've booked my flight to London too so I'm all set. Hope to see you at the congress Prae! :D

Mac - well if they turn out to be horrible we have a sofa bed in our chalet which doesn't have anyone on it! Look forward to meeting you! I look forward to subjecting you to my truly terrible lead....

I was seriously thinking about going, was preparing my travel documents, but the travel costs are prohibitive I think, plus I'm very enamoured with NYC after my recent trip there and would rather go there again soon! :) soon as I save more money ;)

Africana, since you're so into your on2 you might find a UK congress a bit limiting. I'm not saying we don't dance on2 here, and there are some decent on 2 dancers but they're in the tiny minority. The UK scene is almost totally on1.

Sorry to contradict you Prae, but there are usually a lot of workshops aimed at On 2 dancers at the congress with some great teachers such as Hacha y Machete, Frankie Martinez and Juan Matos and they are always packed out.

There's also a healthy contingent of extremely good On 2 dancers at the congress as well.

Add to that that most of the performances and shows are On 2 and I'd have to say that On 2 is very well represented at the UK congress.

I'd agree that most of the classes in the UK are taught On 1, but to say that On 2 dancers are a "tiny minority" is quite a misconception.

| stand corrected! I didn't really mean the classes / workshops I meant on the dance floor. I've only ever been asked to dance once where the guy led on2. But this might be different at the congress - i've not been before after all!
