Guys,
if you're buying salsa LP's off ebay, my advice to you is to extra, extra, careful from whom you buy... [You mUST check out the person in FULL]There are one or two on there that advertise LPs using different user names - People are paying top $$$ and NOT getting the LPs sent out to them. A guy I know, lost $400...On close examination, the covers on show are scanned or bootleg copies of covers which are put there to make you think that the seller is selling that LP for real; when in actual fact he / she aint... (and more to the point, he don't even have the LP to sell, apart from a cover to lure people in)...
Me and a few other guys, are at present doing some research from these User Names (sellers) to find out a little more about them (thru ebay -if possible, and in other areas), I'll let ya' ll know these user names, and other details ASAP...
I actually get stuff direct from only 4 private buyers, in Canada, Miami, and 2 guys from Cali. I did have another in Bolivia but unfortunately he has since passed away. RIP. Now i have heard this, I will think long and hard before buying Salsa LPs off ebay for these reasons...

*If you are going to use ebay to buy, I would suggest for the time being, to use the sellers in USA, South America. (Avoid Europe) .. as I said, for the time being...

If you have been turned-over when trying to purchase LP's, plz drop me a line in MySpace box. I already have a cpl of User Names, and will display asap, when I know more...

I forgot to mention.. when buying LPs; INSIST that the seller, shows the photo of the cover, actually HOLDING the LP in his hands. Everyone and his dog now who own a PC has a digital camera, so its not hard to do. If he don't do it, or says... His batteries in his camera are flet. then you know NOT to buy from them... (If they are GENUINE and want to seel that LP, they should have no problems in doing this)

Ricardo.

Ricardo,

I'm writing you immediately on YourSpace!!!

Up to now I bought 21 LP on Ebay (a couple of seller were European  ) and they have all arrived, fortunately!!!

Cheers!

I've bought quite a few vinyls from ebay without any problems (so far). There are always scammers around though and I'm sorry your friend got stung by one :(, I hope they get banned from ebay soon (the more people who report them, the better).

My advice would be always to pay by Paypal so you are protected, never pay by cheque. bank transfer or money order.

Dodgy record dealers

The problem is not only records not arriving, many sellers have no idea how to grade records so vinyl in supposedly excellent condition arrive unplayable. This is particularly the case with South American sellers unfortunately. The safest policy is to buy one cheap record first from a seller and if you are happy with it then you will feel confident to buy some more. This way you build up a relationship with the seller so if there is a problem one time he will make sure that you are not left out of pocket.

I think it's better than Ebay, records are guaranteed whether you pay with Paypal or credit card and all sellers are rated properly. All records are set sale so it's less time consuming to buy also.
