Is it a good event? Is anyone going?

personally, it looks to me like a lot of money was saved on the line up...

...but everyone is going this year, for some reason. possibly including me (depending whether there are cheap flights from cairo, which i wont know til after i get there).

i already bought flights london (after work friday night, arriving in time for party) - berlin (leaving monday morning, early) - london. PM me if you'd like them - pay the change fee and they're yours. :D theyre with ryanair, if you want to check what the fee would be.

ive got a single room (shared bathroom) booked at the 3 little pigs hostel, across the road from the congress venue (still 5 to 10 minutes' walk, since the congress hall is in a park. next to a lidl supermarket that actually sells some really nice food, cheaply. last time i lived on emmental sandwiches, chocolate-covered marzipan and apple crumble cakes...nom nom. whole food for the weekend cost less than 20 euro). total price for all of the 3 nights, 122 euro. ive stayed there before, and it's basic but fine. if i dont go, someone is welcome to take my room (pay on arrival). i wont know for sure for at least a week though, sorry (need to land in cairo, find a flat then look for cheap flights)...

doh! forget what i said about the flights (unless theyve gone up a lot in price, or youre thinking of going at the very last minute when they normally cost a fortune).

cheapskate ryanair - the name change costs £100!:( i thought it would be £25, £50 at worst. how much administration is actually involved in a name change - next to zero.

if anyone still wants the flights (from stansted airport, btw), go ahead and PM me.

FLY BA, FLY BA, FLY BA!!! :D

i used to go to all the congresses easyjet or ryanair, because the base price would come up cheapest...but once you factor in the cost of checking in luggage (which you have to do if you want to take shampoo with you!), stupid fake debit card charges and the extra cost of getting to stansted/luton/gatwick versus the tube to heathrow, BA is actually cheaper. and much better service. and more comfortable. and they dont take your book off you (because your carry on weighs 10.5kg) and leave you with nothing to read for three whole days (the bookshops were all closed for local holiday)!

and if for some reason you cant fly, you can cancel the day before and get about half of your money back! :)

I have been before and thought it was great :D

Really enjoyed the Friday and sat venues, music, dancers, hot girls :p

I agree, that the music and also the dancers (including the level that seems to higher each year) are great and enjoyable. But I'll have to disagree with regards to the venue as they switched last year. While the new location is great choice as a rather central location to accomodate all the dancers, it lacks some of the atmosphere that the old location had.

For now (and considering I've been there the last 5 years), I don't think I'll go this year. But then again I might change my mind rather last minute and go for a party pass just for some nice dancing.

ill be there whole weekend and perform too in the rising star program. and hope my team gets elected to perform on major congresses :D
we are not that good lol but lets hope so :P

I started checking out the airfares and they werent' bad... (usd 500 ish) until I realized that the taxes and fees are more than 100% !!

I'm planning to be there Friday & Saturday - anyone want to share a room at Ibis Potsdamer Platz?

Chrisk did they sort the venue out for Sunday? I went years ago but the Sunday venue was really, really poor :(

This year the venue on Sunday is the same as the other nights and the large dance floor will be the main one all night on Sunday. ;)

I'll be there early on the Wed to the next Tue!

Sorry, I've only seen you reply now. Yes, as the event has been completely moved from the former location of Kulturbrauerei, which is the one you remember, to the Tempodrom. And as Guy mentioned, the parties will all take place in one large dance floor, that should hopefully fit for all the people going to be there. But as I've written before, while Tempodrom is a rather central location with lots of hotels around (all booked out as far as I know), the atmosphere is lacking compared to the charm of Kulturbrauerei. But then my judgement is clouded by my experience of the former locations of the congress and others might disagree with me.

Wow, that's what I call commitment! :P

I'll be there for sure, not certain yet about the nights, it's probably gonna be Friday and Sunday. But maybe Friday and Saturday, we'll see (I do love farewell parties though, and I also bought a red dress already, sooo...)
