Beginner question

Hi! Newbie Savoyard here.

I have a question about a beginner move. How do we transition from close position to a crossed open position, where I hold her right hand in my right and her left in my left, while taking a back step? I can't recall how the instructor did it.
And how do we get back to close position?

I'd be grateful for any insights :)

on1 or on2?

On2

Feet:
1: Open CBL with left foot on the 1
2: begin a hook turn with your right foot on the second beat, leaving your weight as you're coming around on three on your left foot. Weight on the left foot, power from the floor on the right foot from 2 into the 3rd beat
3: weight is on your left foot and you're now facing her
5-7: continuing your open break

Hands:
1: Assert your CBL with your left and right (particularly the right). You need to make sure she's moving and understand to cross
2: Starting moving your left hand downward to where you want to catch it as you are coming around in the next step as she is passing you. Start releasing your right from her back.
3: Keep your elbows in as you do this. Release the left hand around where you want, catch her right hand with your right as you're coming around (her hand will be where you left it), and keep your left hand up over the right.

5-7: Left hand is asking for her left.

There's some finesse to this, and you should use your spotting to improve timing as well as balance. Also make sure to lead the cbl not just with your hands, but also with your body.

Yes, essentially the same. translation to on1:
