Hi peeps,
took a disinterest in salsa, unfortunatrely for a while (probably since the last time I posted), due to other hobbies, thai boxing, weight training and swimming.
Now I'm taking a break from thai boxing because of injury, and I've discovered the most unusal thing.
First day back, I suddenly get compliments from a lot of women about my hip and body movement.
In thai boxing we use a lot of hip movements to build momentum and power with our kicks, also there is a lot of balance and coordiantion work in thai boxing. So I think you all could easily transfer your salsa to fighting if you wanted
Anyway, went to bar salsa on monday and had a great class, and the music was exactly the sort of type I've been listhening to on the salsa beginners compilations.. So I could spot the 1's and have some luck at timing my dance to the music.
Just got back from bar salsa today (wednesday), and the classes and DJ are run by two completely different organisations.. While both classes taught to move on 1, and were pretty much "cross body style" or "linear style", however the music they played after class was completely different on each days..
As I already mentioned on monday they played music similar to my beginners guide to salsa compilation so I could recgnise them and dance to it. But the music they played on Wednesday was more heavy drums and sounded very carribean, at one point I thought it sounded like reggae music. And there was no chance for me to dance with the rythem or even find the 1.
Can you guys [and gals] recommend me a salsa bar thats packed (so I can practice and get my 10 dances per night goal] and also recommened me a place with the right kinda of music playing too.
Thanks...hope I didn't bore you with the long diatribe
