Another Salsa Shines Compilation?

I'm in. I'd normally offer to edit, but I'm no good for that till like after the 8th June - have some professional exams coming up. If it comes together later, then I'm good to edit.

I'll hit up the crew on facebook that we don't see here too often now, and see if they're in.

Also be nice if we could make an effort to track down some of our former SF regulars. Kbitten seems to be around a bit again. Opsm seems to post in music now and again. Maybe brownie can be tracked down?

I'm assuming big10 would throw down as normal ;)

But yeah, salsa shines combined with track down our old comrades for a nostalgia edition?

I don't know what was done in the past, but I can make sure it gets done, including hire help if we don't have a volunteer to edit it. Can someone explain a little more about the procedure last time? Did everyone send their tracks to one person? I think everyone used the same song, right? I might even contribute time. :)

Basically it evolved to certain traditions, some of which might be hard to maintain this time:

1a) The first to submit in the previous compilation chose the music for the next
1b) This evolved to a voting/consultation thread where folks suggested tracks and we polled it.

2) In the case of many participants, we split into two teams each with their own editor and their own track.
3) A deadline was set for everyone to submit by. Late submissions at the discretion of the editors.
4) Everyone submitted to their editor who then put it together.

5) Generally everyone got their screen name on screen with them, optional location.

We tried to keep edit/post production to a week. Hey presto.

We just need the bodies :)

Having been part of all the previous compilations, I guess I'm in again. ;)

As for old timers, I've contacted Flujo, Smiling28, SalsaGipsy, Ptwist and PielCanela from the previous compilations and see if they would be willing to come back for it.

Would be nice to have MacMoto in as well. Mangomotion, CaribSalsera and Antigone sadly seem to not be around here anymore.

Thanks so much for helping contact everyone. I've contacted a couple of people myself. One of my favorites is Micaela, Sonora Carruseles, but really I am open to whichever song we can decide on. Hopefully we can get a couple of new people too!

thank you for reaching out, It was a lot of fun. Count me in just let me know the song and what are my start/end times.

Dude :) Welcome back, I took on board something you said yonks back with regards to how we criticise the dancing of others. You made me realise that we should always look for the best, and save our knee jerk negative ideas for the trash can. Glad to see you back :)

Thanks, Chris, for remembering me! Unfortunately I won't be able to participate this time but I'll follow the developments. :)

Hi,
I am in.

As background to my absence recently, I had emergency brain surgery to remove a large brain tumour almost twelve months ago. I have had to learn to walk again. I believe that salsa has been integral to my recovery. At three months and limping around, doctors called me a medical miracle but told me to prepare for the letdown of not improving. Last month I finally was able to do some rough suzy Qs, so I am very happy with my recovery and have written a book about my journey which should be out around June or before. check out www.vanroyden.com for more.

Keep on dancing - it is essential for your good health!

I.e - I am in even if I just do the basic...I am so in!!! (A nice cha cha would be a great goal for me)

eg.

the classic

Good lord dude, that's rotten luck, but also inspiring having checked out your site. I will set aside time to get and read your book most definitely, once I'm done moving house and doing exams!

As for music, hmmmm, we'll have to start a recommendations/suggestions thread. I'm down with some Cha, or maybe we head over into some boogalu. .. time to think!
