All things (salsa,timba,conga,bachata)-ton

Personally I am not into those "ton" thingies.
I prefer my Reggaeton on it's own, my salsa on it's own, etc.
(that doesn't of course, mean that there aren't some good numbers in this category)

is reggaeton Dead?

someone in new york said to me recently that they are not playing much if any in the latin clubs over there

same elsewhere?

kind of hard to believe since many clubs in south america a couple of years back seemed to play nothing but regaeton

could it be that salsa is making some ground back again? or is it the other fads like the new "mambo-merengue" taking over ?

I think that in general the reggeaton furia is dying down but I don't think it's dead or is going to die.

not even close to "dying"; Reggaeton reminds most non Latinos of hip hop \ R & B, so it gets some spotlight in non Latino clubs as well.
In Latin america and the Caribbean you can hear lots of Reggaeton in any club that is not defined as a "type music X" club.
In the Salsa clubs in my area you typically hear 2-3 Reggaeton tracks per night, and maybe the occasional salsa \ timba ton.
