All about weekends!

Terremoto

Changui
I just wanted to create a thread where people can talk about their weekends - what they are planning and what they actually did. And if you are someone who works during the weekend and your days off are during the week - feel free to post about you are planning to do on your days off.

My past weekend went really well. I went salsa dancing Thursday night, dragged myself into work on Friday, went dancing on Friday night, went mountain biking saturday during the day, went salsa dancing on saturday night and then sunday I spent most of my time hanging out at a friend's barbeque. The weatherman called for rain all weekend - but he was wrong :) It was sunny and beautiful all weekend up until around 7:30 sunday night!!

Well this weekend I look forward to salsa dancing and putting together some of the things I learned in class during the week. I'll probably go to the beach with some friends and try and learn to surf Lol..Don't have the best balance so we'll see how that goes.

Hmm..Beach and dancing Salsa...now if only I could put those together. :D

Actually..two weeks ago they had a Salsa event at the Beach Pier..Not quite the same..but nice view and a great night.

This weekend I'll be in Blackpool, England, for the Blackpool Dance Festival doing photography and watching the best ballroom comp in the world... and the next weekend I'll be travelling back to San Diego! (Blackpool runs Friday-Friday)

Tony, not that this is a surfing forum, but . . .

Ask your friends to show you how to stand up on the board before you go. That is one of the more difficult aspects of learning how to ride when you are starting out. After they show you, you can practice before you go. That way, its one less thing for you to worry about. If you try and learn how to stand up the same day that they are teaching you everything else, it can be difficult, because there is a lot to learn, and when you're out on the waves and you see one coming you'll probably end up forgetting your form and just trying to stand up and then falling in the water - even if you have great balance you still need proper form in standing up.

Good luck - and post back on how it goes!!!

Hehe...Well I don't have any friends who can surf that live nearby. One of my friends has had a surfboard for over 2 years and has yet to use it. So we're basically gonna try and wing it and try not to hurt ourselves!

I Gotta Study all week end..i hate exams :x

Good luck with the exams!

Last weekend -- no salsa (shock! horror!).

Next weekend:
For Friday I have to choose between a live gig (great band but not a dance venue. Probably too crowded to dance, and few leaders to dance with anyway) and a regular club (okay DJ, tiny club, dancefloor often taken over by clueless drunks, but there will be some regular faces to dance with). :?

Sunday's my fave social but I can be there only for an hour or so  . There are going to be some Cuban-style workshops before that, so I may attend those too...

This coming up weekend I had planned a three day trip to hood river, Oregon with a friend, to do some kiteboarding, snowboarding and mountain biking. However, our weekend got rained out :( totally sucks!

Also, a lot of the local salser@s are away for a salsa congress - so the clubs won't be very good. So what to do, what to do with my weekend? Hhhmmm - hard to say :?:

I hate when that happens man..seems like a lot of the clubs seem bare during any local or close congress.

Wish I had the time and money to make it to one of those

I was thinking about going to the congress myself, but then my friend came up with this idea of having a fun sports weekend . . . should have went to the congress

Hey Terremoto Wasup,

So, last night I went out dancing at Outlaws. I was really surprised because the place was absolutely packed. I thought it would be dead with so many people gone to the LA congress.

Anyway, maybe this bodes well for us Friday night at H2O.

  Salsero JR

Right on man - thats good news all around. I'm glad outlaws is picking up - I was there the last couple of weeks and it was OK. I'm thinking about going to Andrea's Cha Cha room tonight - we'll see. I'm hoping H20 will be good on Friday night.

Also - its good to see you posting again!

Dude, do you realize that you have over 500 posts on this forum and I've got just over 50. If Salsa Forums gave got frequent flyer miles for the number postings you could take a trip anywhere you wanted.

:rocker: THAT'S TOTALLY COOL :rocker: , KEEP IT UP.

  Salsero JR

couldnt start enjoying my weekend lastnight
but am making it up to maself today.... shoppinggggggggggggg then salsa at nightt

Lolita - hope you have fun shopping!

My weekend started last night. I went out to Andrea's Cha Cha club. Its a small club and can get pretty smokey - so I haven't gone in about a year. However, friends of mine kept telling me that a lot of people show up on Thursday nights and there is a live cuban band. So I figured I had to give it a shot - I called up a couple of friends to see if they wanted to join me and I found one lady who said she would go.

The band was awesome!!! The band's name was "Cubaneo" Oh man - they played with so much heart and feeling and they were just getting into and the crowd could just feel the vibration, it was awesome!!! However, there weren't very many dancers there that were above a beginner level. And floor craft - didn't exist. The floor was crowded - but people should not have been running into me as much as they should have. People were just not aware of their surroundings. One guy lead a girl into a spin and then into some type of a cuddle move and he almost ended up cuddling with me - I was like, hey buddy, I don't want to get to know you that well :D And then this one lady was trying to cross the floor and she literally shoved me out of her way - I'm serious. SHe physically shoved me - unbelievable, I've never been shoved like that on a dance floor - totally rude. But I danced most of the night with the one lady that agreed to meet me at the club and we had a great time - mostly because the band was just so good.

As for the rest of my weekend - I'm not sure. I'm hoping the sun will come out so maybe I could do something outdoors.

lmao torremoto u literally made me laugh
LOOOOOOOl sorry for being shoved

and yeah i had great time shopping great time dancinggggggggg

Work has been pretty hectic so I am posting a little bit past the weekend. But my weekend went well. I went to bed early friday - no dancing - because I wanted to get up early so I could spend the whole day mountain biking! I had a great day. And then the next day I was hoping for wind so I could go kiteboarding, but there was no wind, but it wasn't rainy, so I spent another day mountain biking - My legs were pretty sore monday morning but I had a great time. I'm hoping that this weekend we will get some sun and wind!! And saturday night I went to a house party and they had some salsa dancing which was all good!
