Afro-Cuban Percussion Workbook

Son Montuno
A friend of mine has just released a workbook for Afr-Cuban percussion. I haven't gotten a look at it yet and the site doesn't have any samples but here is a link with some info for percussionists who may be interested.

Thanks Michelle! This is Curtis. Glad to see that word is spreading beyond everyone I was able to track down to send it to.

There is a more informative site with examples and links to youtubes of the DVD: https://sites.google.com/site/afrocubanpercussionworkbook/home.

I hope people enjoy it!

The website says...

Can you be more specific? Are these in English or Spanish?

The table of contents is available on that same website. The images and thumbnails are a bit tricky for that part -- these two separate thumbnails for the TOC. But you should be able to view all of it.

The text is all in English. Some examples of that are available as well. Just click on the "Excerpts" part and there's links to TOC and at least one example from each of the three main sections.

Hey! Nice to "see" you here! I bet you could really help a lot with some of the questions in the music section if you have time. :)

Welcome to SF, AfroCubanPerWor!

Since I and many members have already come to appreciate the knowledge that timberamayor has brought to this forum, we would love to see your share some of your knowledge in the way she suggested. I hope you find some time to join our discussion at least every now and then.

Yes, that's one, where we talk about music aspects of all kind and where also timberamayor is mostly to be found. :)

Yes please join me there Curtis. I'm sure you could do a better job explaining some stuff that I do plus you're 100% more qualified to answer lots of the questions that pop up there.

Just so people know a little bit about Curtis. He was Kevin's first Timba Guru. Kevin went to Cuba in the late 90s expecting to hear BVSC style music and ended up at a Manolín concert

Imagine you go to a concert expecting this:

Kevin was blown away but when he got back to the US there was no information about modern Cuban music anywhere. Somehow he got in touch with Curtis and that's where his Timba education began. Timba.com was born as site that contained the kind of info that Kevin had wished he could have found when he got back.

Curtis is a great storehouse of info and musical knowledge (he knows other stuff too ;) )
