25th of December - La Feria de Cali - watch Salsodromo live on line!

Today is the official first day of one of, if not the best salsa festivals on the planet. The main event today is the Salsodromo, based on Rio de Janeiro's famous Sambodromo, where some of the top salsa schools in the world parade in front of salsa fanatics from Cali and abroad. Live bands on mobile platforms are part of this event as well.

I don't know. This event has been announced a long time ago and no one "announces" an international event on the day of the event!

Also, the uniqueness and the importance of the Salsodromo warranted presence in the Dance Section, especially in SALSA - Forum. AAAANNNNNNNNDD, putting a internet live feed in a section of the site that gets almost minimal hits is kind of pointless, but then I can see why some people would want such real salsa events "hidden"......

Interestingly, when I had posted such links in the Dance Section in the past, they were not moved to the ' event announcement' section!

every announcer wants their announcements get more attention. so maybe we should discuss removing this section due to lack of interest :)

besides, since this is one of the best festivals in the galaxy (if this is one of the best in the planet, it will possibly be one of the best in the galaxy since salsa was born in this planet. people from other planets would possibly copy us which wont be that authentic) you dont have to worry about attention ;)

The difference between other most announcements and this one is that most announcements are for the benefit of the announcer. People finding more about Cali's salsa events will benefit them more than they benefit me. I live here, while most people who post here live in one "spin" city or another. So, it is in the interest of a salsa forum for more of its readers to have the opportunity to be educated as to what real salsa dancing and culture is all about and wether anyone likes it or not, this is one of the few places on the planet (and the galaxy) that there is an actual salsa culture, rather than some lonely people teaching empty choreography to impress themselves.

I am not worried about the "attention", as I am real salsero, not a pretend one and I live in Cali, but others here who want to be actual salseros will need to give attention to Cali and other places like Cali, because in this world of the salsa clueless, only authentic core locations are going give them the real education they need to understand what salsa is all about.

If they don't want real salsa knowledge, then that is fine as always, as they can ignore the real and authentic information being posted here by myself and others, who actually know what we are talking about. Hey, most people who dance, just do it for some social fun anyway, so no need for them to be too academic, but then for those who are serious about salsa, then they should GIVE attention to sources where they can learn from! ;)

By the way people, the Salsodromo event is over, but you should be able to see highlights of the rest of La Feria de Cali, as this channel is the main 24 hour local Cali channel and should provide a window into Cali's salsero culture during the most important salsa event of the year!

DJ Ara, is there some place we can see the entire lineup of bands for this years Feria?
I have not found a list for all the bands. I doubt that they will have any, because there are so many local bands also involved in this. In a local pizza restaurant, 5 minutes walk from the hotel, there will be half a dozen local bands playing during this period. Then on the 30th of December, we have El Festival de las Orquestas, where probably up to around two dozen local bands will be playing from the afternoon until the early hours of the morning.

Actually, another international band that I don't think has been mentioned so far in this thread is Habana con Cola, and they will be playing a few times during La Feria.

EDIT: You can catch some a lot of the action (depending on when you tune in) on the link I posted before, but here it is again: http://www.canalesdelpueblotv.com/

Ok, thanks. I'm always interested to see which bands and singers from New York and Puerto Rico are performing there.
