Which threads I'm boycotting?

I'm boycotting anything to do with bachata simply because I was always told "If you can't say something nice, say nothing at all"...not sure I always do that though ;)

Multiple Touch and Gos (note: written correctly here!)

Wah! Superfluous apostrophes!!

And the next person that makes quotation marks with their fingers ,( I'm thinking of a punishment )..

If they're inserting quotation marks where they should be using inverted commas, definitely!!

Quotation marks are for quoting speech only!

There are only specific things that the fingers should be used for, and and thats not one of them.. do the words " voice inflection " mean anything to these ..( Im thinking of a word ) .

I am boycotting threads with such titles as, "What to do when your leader tears your arm out of its socket and runs away with it to the other side of the dance floor"; or "How do you pick your nose while doing complicted cross body turns at the same time"; "How do I prevent screwing myself into a hole on the dance floor while multiple spinning on the spot", and so on.......

You could make living here in Cali as an English teacher. ;)

I make more money and get more holidays in Japan ;) . There are so few 'teachers' there who are qualified and know what they're doing, so it's nice to be sought after :) .

Cali is way more fun.

oops, I was boycotting this thread

LOL!

Yep, Cali is way more fun for those who are salsa fans, which means that there is no need for that many holidays to start with, and when you do get them, you are short flights away from great beaches and other great Colombian cities, as well as other exotic locations, in this country, many of which still have great salsa scenes.

Of course, when one's financial situation allowsif one is still relatively close to other great Latin American cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, etc. :)

Well, keep in mind that a huge portion of SF users are not native speakers. In other languages that I speak it would be perfectly fine to use quotation marks when, for instance, referring to sth ironically.

I am boycotting "Hitting NY" :uplaugh: simply because I'd just get too envious of all that NYC planning.

Please do not tell me to "keep in mind" something I have a Master's degree in. Not only am I well versed in different varieties of English and accept all of them - if you took the time to check, you would notice I would never, for example, criticise Olamalam's English. I accept the way he writes as a legitimate variety of English, as legitimate as my own. You might have noticed (obviously not) I don't criticise anyone who has a different L1. The majority of posters here speak English far better than I do Spanish, and I have enormous respect for all of them.

A basic grammar error is completely and utterly different. Quotation marks are for quoting one's speech, not for drawing attention to a particular term or phrase. If we just want to do what we like with apostrophes, I might as well quit my job teaching English in one of Australia's top performing schools.

How exactly is the syntax for using quotation in English? In my language we use the same opening and closing quote mark, and only occasion we use single marks is if there is a quortation within another quotation.

Also, I know that the french use << and >> for opening and closing quotation, and the germans use the opening quote mark as superscript and the closing one as subscript. I just mean that there are really differences.

Now I had to write in this thread even if I was boycotting it ;)
