Just a stray thought: Has learning other styles such as Kizomba/Zouk/Swing improved your lead/follow dancing and/or solo abilities? I think Kizomba helped me learn leading from the frame better, BS helped me learn dancing close and improv and DB helped me with shines a bit.

I am on a quest to find comfortable earplugs which are invisible while dancing. So far I have tried earpeace (too stiff), fender foam (pretty good but visible) and various non-musian ones which ruined the music. What do you use and are you happy with them?
