Tips for follow who can't follow and is well aware?

Being willing to learn is nothing to apologize for. If you focus on developing good habits through correct fundamentals (including going with the flow), then there is much less risk of "doing something wrong" mentality; simply work on replicating what was "right." He is not likely saying you...

Tips for follow who can't follow and is well aware?

This is where the it gets "complicated" as there are a few things going on. Learning the structure of patterns is good in the beginning (to get your core fundamentals; all complex moves are only effective with great fundamentals) which is what the instructor (should) instill into you as being...

Tips for follow who can't follow and is well aware?

First off, welcome! Unfortunately, I can only give general suggestions as I don't dance Cuban. But I will simply repeat and expand on what everyone here suggests. I found leading and following challenging in their respective ways with both new and seasoned dancers. I will try to keep my...

People do behave differently when they know they are being watched; behavior increases exponentially as "more eyes are watching." Depending on the personality, some become more outgoing and dominant ("showboaty") while others become more conservative in their dancing; everyone's behavior changes...

    Dancing On3

It would be strange for Salsa to use a different musical structure in terms of counting. Unless something is unique about Salsa, music is 1& 2 & 3& 4&... 5&, 6&, 7&, 8&. The numbers always represented the downbeat and the & was always the upbeat.

    Dancing On3

I find it's a mix of my training and my flow/musicality which makes me flop to break back on6 here and there. Over time I fall back to break back on 2. I find the melody drives me to change to anything other than breaking on 2/6. On3 seems too slow for me. I feel the 2/ is a good enough pause...

    Dancing On3

For "partner" dancing (my definition two + people are physically connected while moving to the music) , we need some "order/structure." Otherwise, it's just shine dancing with someone. People are going to naturally move to the music but that expression will be different for everyone. Even Jazz...

Dancing in NYC - current state of affairs?

Look at the following schedules: - Monday's at Taj - Anything held by DJ John John. I like his socials the best now. Eventbrite actually lists upcoming or immediate events (both free and fee-based).

    Dancing On3

I let the feel of the tumbao (but melody at times) resonate through my body and act as my time keeper and counter. Trying to do 1-8 always messes me up and my flow. What if I don't want to follow those rules! Sometims
