Love the dancers and friends I get to reconnect with but hate the hotel's über-strict security policies/bouncers. Yep, been every year since 2004 so I'm going to head down south instead on that weekend.

The 2x a year house parties and Mr. Mambo's socials are a much better representation of what the DC scene has to offer. The congress should in no way be used to gauge or judge the DC scene.

Interesting answers about why salsa pros don't compete. Since I go to my fair share of WCS events it's an absolute blast to see the Pro-Am Jack & Jill and Masters (Pro) Jack & Jill competitions.
