My friend is thinking about hiring a salsa band for her birthday. The venue is in Hebden Bridge. She's not a dancer and neither are most of the guests so it probably needs to be a band that can do some of the old Cuban favourites that people would recognise from Buena Vista etc. Does anyone...

What a brilliant picture! Who took it? It's so hard to get good pics of people dancing.

Exactly the problem. It seems like it's a very awkward move to lead and most guys don't do the first hand rotation quickly enough so then you realise late that they are wanting another turn.

I'd say the hands should be at belly button height and to the side, not directly in front of the body.

Variety is always good. But the Milton/Shaka/Tito type of smoothness is my favourite.

Didn't see the shows on Sunday but saw the rehearsals. The tango show looked amazing. What did people think of it (Eider and Luisa) in the evening showcase?

There's a pub about 5 mins or so walk - turn right outside hotel and continue along main road. I'll be working but might be able to meet up - depends on timings.

I always prefer Sun night of the Congress to Sat - it's more chilled.
