high roller dancers

hyh

Changui
I saw that DC Bachata Congress is selling 5 (!) different levels of passes for attending all their events.

Individual pass
Ultimate VIP pass
Executive VIP preferred pass
Presidential pass

and the Ultimate Presidential pass ...
(10 available, they say) at whopping $2500, which includes ...

full pass
Suite Thursday-to-Monday
VIP front row table seating with sponsors and special guests
4 course dinner Gala Thursday
special pick up from airport

So, I guess this means that the organizers are expecting or hoping for some higher roller dancers? Isn't that an oxymoron? Unless we're talking the likes of Rudolf Nureyev or Mikhail Baryshnikov? Or maybe they're hoping for Prince Royce? It'd be so funny seeing someone with the high roller pass who looked the part - looking all gangsta and draped in sashes maybe - at a congress like this.

He? Could it be that the Bachata crowds are a bit different from salsa? Though I can't believe it.

This kind of arrangements are not meant for celebrities. If a well-known name expresses interest, they will probably be let in for free - the irony is that they can afford it but will still get a lot of stuff for free. Somebody from the upper middle class, on the other hand, might be interested but I haven't seen (m)any such people at congresses.

Maybe this is meant only as that ridiculously high price that makes every other offer look cheaper?

I remembered I saw the same at NY congress for 2400 so lets break down:

Tour of New York City upon the New York City Party Bus - 30 dollars

• Roundtrip car service to and from the airport to the Hilton New York - 110 dollars

• Accommodations for all 4 Nights from Thursday to Sunday at the Hilton New York - 1000 dollars

• WIFI service in your room - 80 dollars

• Parking for (1) vehicle for all 4 nights - 200 dollars

• A (1)Full Pass VIP Package - 250 dollars

• Reserved table in the VIP Section - they dont sell it

• 3(Three) Evening VIP Passes - 330 dollars

• 12(Twelve) drink tickets per night for 4 nights - one beer is 10 dollars so 480 dollars

and Full American Breakfast for 1 at the New York Marketplace in the Hilton New York lobby level each morning from Thursday - 100 dollars

• 1 (one) Full Pass VIP Package for next year - 250 dollars

do the math, its worth it if you share the room and charge your roomates its even better rsrs. dont know about the bachata event if its worth it too.

All of this just proves that there is one born every minute!

If people are that desperate to rub crotches against each other then they should just spend the same money (or less) and call an escorts agency, because at least they will get an "happy ending"!:p

Or just take a flight to the Dominican Republic and get the real and full experience! :)

Bachata crowds suck big time. Thats why I hit it and quit it. Its all superficial and snobby

You need to dance bachata with Dominicans. It will change your views completely. Seek them out. :)

If I lived in a place with no Dominicans or Dominican-style dancers (and authentic Dominican bachata music), I agree, I would probably have to give up bachata dancing.

P.S. As an extra benefit, Dominicans tend to very good-looking people. ;)

I wish I could learn dominican bachata, but there are no instructors here who would teach it. All they want to teach is sensual bachata. I specially hate the Sevilla crowd. They are conceited, pompous, superficial individuals who act above everybody at parties. Just because they incorporate flamenco into bachata, they think they invented a new style of dancing. They also do that in cuban salsa/timba/guaguanco.

I swear they think they are the world's greatest dancers, they think they invented dancing, and the worst part is, people actually feed into their flamenco dancing bull s hit. You should see them ant congress, strutting like they were gods gift to the dance world, then they refuse to dance with anyone who isnt up their standards. Even the andaluces that dont dance, think they can outdance anyone. There was a regional salsa championship last friday in tenerife to classify into the puerto rico international salsa competition (my dance teachers were undefeated 4 years straight and were ranked 8th in the world in puerto rico, yet they seem to remain humble and dance with beginners at every party). So this couple from sevilla actually entered the contest, just because the girl was born in gran canaria. WTF??, cant they compete in their own region??. Anyways, I saw them at a club last night acting all high and mighty (they didnt win) and giving other less talented dancers side looks. Its almost like the venezuelan beauty pageants. There are actually girls who live in miami and enter the contest anyways just because their parents are venezuelan.

you own us a video with this bachata flamenco lol
I could not find bachata flamenco on Youtube, but I found this new style bachata that should be a hit in the current "subjective" times we live in:

I am sure that it is a matter of time before workshops in this dynamic new style of bachata become available in the Congresses and I am sure that prices for this are going to hit the roof: :D

Once the new style of bachata picks up then expect performance shows from the following group of professional dancers at your local congress - I hear that they work cheap and that is always a good thing. On top of that, as talented as they are these dancers are not made up of skinny pretty women either, It is their pure talent that has given them the world exposure that they deserve::p

I agree that this is not meant for attracting celebrities to buy the package. For free entry and other amenities, organizers might get the celebrities to sit with the VVIP high roller front row table.

That's a budget plan compared to what I posted. Hotel prices in Manhattan are double or more the price in DC. The presidential pass ($900) at DC gives you a regular room like the NYC ($2400) without additional passes for this year AND next year.

Here's the description of the suite with photo link at the end (I couldn't figure out the pricing however).
Enjoy contemporary style and comfort while taking in sweeping views of the DC skyline from your own private retreat. Panoramic windows stretch the length of the living and dining areas with views of the top of the U.S. Capitol Building and the Washington Monument. Well-appointed for entertaining guests, the Suite features a stylish and functional kitchenette with an additional private side entrance. The generously-sized corner bedroom is situated off the main foyer with frosted glass double doors that open onto a separate seating area. The plush-top Hilton Serenity bed overlooks corner windows with skyline views of Georgetown, while the spacious master bath features a soaking tub with surrounding jets and a two-person shower with wall body jets. In addition to the one king bedroom, the Suite may be paired with an adjoining One King Bed guest room.

This is meant for showing off - conspicuous consumption.

"If you don't know what I know or if you don't share my worldview, you are a fool" type of attitude aside, different people have different priorities and means.

Super Bowl tickets for instance have face value of $850-$1250, and street value for the cheapest ticket is well over $1000.

And in my humble opinion, that is why the world is in the mess it is in! Having opinions and priorities does not necessarily make them right when you take into account that many people follow opinions and even priorities that are not their own (see, the education system, advertising, etc, and their effect on people's opinions and priorities, not to mention their emotional states)! ;)

There are always the exceptions to the rule, so don't take what I say the wrong way! :)

It is like someone offering a kung fu congress with workshops with the same costs of actually flying to China and training it with actual chinese grand masters in a temple, and no one thinks about doing the latter and even label those who recommend it as haters or "know it alls"!

Well, like I said, there is one born every minute.....

Yep, people spending their hard earned money in more and more desperate attempts to be entertained by meaningless ball games and entertainment, as a means to escape their sad realities. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with being entertained as the salsa business itself is related to entertainment. However, I see many people "blinded" by it.

Ask these people about the number of pubic hair on their favorite football player and you will likely get a very accurate answer. Ask most of them a question about world history, geography etc. and expect them to scratch their heads and go...."Duuuuuuuh"!

So yes, every society needs entertainment and other activities, but every society needs BALANCE, otherwise it ends up in a mess. This balance that I speak of comes from within and you are not going to find too many balanced people being fanatically blinded by whatever it is that they love even if they are in love with a certain activity.

Anyway, that is my view and of course there are always exceptions, but still you don't have to agree with it! :)
